Things You Didn’t Know About Vanessa Hudgens

WE STAN a queen! Not only Vanessa Hudgens is such a talented actress and a recording artist, her quirky personality makes her very admirable to people. She’s the type that exudes the approachable aura even though she’s such a big Hollywood star.

Apart from her accolades, Vanessa never shies from her roots. In numerous interviews that she had, she always mentions her family, her Filipina mother and her love for Filipino food. What more could you want?

With her birthday coming, and another Netflix movie recently released, let’s turn the spotlight on to Vanessa, who is becoming the Netflix Holiday Queen! But who is complaining?

EARLY LIFE

Vanessa Anne Hudgens was born on December 14, 1988 in Salinas California to Filipina mother and an Irish, French and Native American father. Although she was born on the west coast, she was raised in multiple places such as Oregon and Southern California.

She started her passion for theater at an early age – when she was ten years old. From there she appeared in several musical productions – all local, such as Carousel, The Wizard of Oz, The King and I, The Music Man, and Cinderella.

RISE TO STARDOM: HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL

Her first role in the television was when she appeared on a sitcom called Still Standing. From there, she appeared in other series such as Robber Homicide Division. After her success in her television series projects, she appeared in several movies such as Thirteen and Thunderbirds.

When she was 18 years old, she landed the role of Gabriella Montez in the hit film High School Musical, a Disney Channel Original. She was partnered with her real life teenage crush turned real life partner Zac Efron, who landed the leading male role. High School Musical was her breakthrough film which led her to a lot of opportunities.

DISCOGRAPHY

Vanessa’s first debut studio album is called V, and was released in September 2006, with the two singles Come Back to Me and Say OK. This album was voted by listeners as the 7th best album of 2007.

After V’s success, she released another album in 2008 – Identified. This album reached international success in Asia and Europe as well. This led her to embark on her fist solo concert tour – Identified Summer Tour in the same year.

POST HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL DRAMA

She has been involved in several scandals during her career. She was a victim of leaked photos online – her personal photos which shows her posing in lingerie and other nude photos were splattered across the internet. This scandal led to the speculation that Disney dropped her from the High School Musical 3. Two years after the ghastly scandal was another scandal. Her private topless photos emerged on the Internet.

NETFLIX HOLIDAY QUEEN

These couple of years, she has been appearing in various Netflix Holiday films which is earning her the title the Netflix Holiday Queen. The first was in the film The Princess Switch in 2018 where she played the characters of Lady Margaret and Stacy De Novo, followed by The Knight Before Christmas in 2019, where she played the role of Brooke Winters (she also happened to be one of the executive producers) and finally, The Princess Switch: Switched Again this year (she reprised her two characters and another – Fiona Pembroke).

CURRENT PROJECTS

As of now, she is currently filming another movie, Tick, Tick… Boom!. It is said to be a musical drama directed by the award winning actor, composer and playwright, Lin Manuel Miranda.
