Things You Didn’t Know About Super Junior (Part 1 of 2)

I REFUSE to believe you if you told me that you have not heard of the song “Sorry Sorry” by Super Junior. This iconic song together with its more iconic music video had started my love for Korean Pop (and others too) back in the late 2000s.

From that moment onward I have always supported Super Junior. Although at times they have been divided into smaller groups their music and performances have always been top notch.

Early this year it has been announced that Super Junior will have a comeback and will release a new album this February. After many delays, the comeback is set today, March 16. Before their new album drops let’s take a look at the most interesting facts about Super Junior members. This is part one of this two part series.

Leeteuk

Leeteuk of Super Junior

Leeteuk was born as Park Jung Soo on July 1, 1983 in Seoul, South Korea. Park In Young who is also a singer and an actress is his older sister. He was adviced to join a talent scout audition at SM Entertainment and had passed the tests and recordings. He officially joined the agency when he was 16 years old.

After training for five years with SM, he was finally debuted as a member of Super Junior. He is also the oldest member of the group and was therefore chosen as the leader. Leeteuk was the one who came up with Super Junior’s fan club name which is ELF. It’s not performing on the stage or in front of the cameras, he spends his time playing the piano listening to music singing and also playing the saxophone.

Heechul

Heechul was born as Kim Hee Chul on July 10 1983, in Hoengseong, Gangwon, South Korea. He has her sister named Kim Hee Jin. He studied from Sangji Youngsoe College and graduated in 2004 with a degree in English tourism translation. He further pursued his education from Sangji University and got a degree in informatics through Bachelor’s Degree Examination for Self-Education in 2009.

It was actually the famous Korean singer Psy who inspired him to become a performer. When he auditioned for the SM Entertainment, his audition piece was the Korean national anthem. he is said to be currently dating MoMo of from the girl group Twice.

Yesung

Yesung of Super Junior

Yesung was born as Kim Jong Woon on August 24, 1984 in Seoul South Korea he has a younger brother named Kim Jong In. at an early age he already know that he wanted to sing. it was his mother who signed him up for an audition at SM Entertainment in 2001.

Because of his artistic voice he was signed immediately as a trainee. His stage name Yesung means  vocal cords of an artist or art like voice. He runs a cafe together with his brother called Mouse Rabbit Coffee. He once said that once he retired from the entertainment business he would like to run his own business.

Shindong

Shindong of Super Junior

Shindong was born as Shin Dong Hee on September 28 1985 in Suwon, South Korea. He has a younger sister named Ahn Da Young. He already loved dancing at an early age, winning numerous prices such as the Goyangsi Youth Dance contest, Mnet Epi Contest and SM Best youth contest. He then decided to sign in with SM entertainment to improve his skills in dancing.

Already a trainee at SM, he was included as a member of the Super Junior. Apart from being a member of the group he is also the group’s choreographer and director. Outside Super Junior, he directs a lot of music videos for different groups such as Pink Fantasy and SUV.
