Things You Didn’t Know About Paul Salas

FROM CHILDSTAR to teen star to a budding actor that he is now, Paul Salas literally and figuratively grew up in front of the camera. We’ve watched him in various shows as a child and teen actor. Now that he is older, he is making his own name as a talented actor in his generation.

With decades worth of accolades under his belt, what can this guy not do? He can entertain us in so many ways – singing, dancing, hosting and acting. For one talented person like Paul, the best is yet to come for sure.

EARLY LIFE

Paul was born as Paul Andre Solinap Salas on April 16, 1998 in Quezon City, Philippines to parents Michelle Solinap and Jim Salas. His father was one of the members of the 1990s Universal Motion Dancers.

Paul was educated at the Starland International School and had graduated from the institution last March 2015.

CAREER BEGINNINGS

Paul’s father had a lot of influence on him as a child. Being exposed to showbusiness, it was not a surprise that he wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. He joined StarStruck Kids in 2004, when he was just six years old. He was batchmates with Miguel Tanfelix, Sandy Talag and Bea Binene.

After the show has ended, he went on to appear in various shows in  GMA Network. He was both in Encantadia and Mulawin, playing the younger versions of the main characters. He also appeared in the Lenten Special of Eat Bulaga ( Ganyan Kita Kamahal ) and Majika in 2006. His last year in GMA Network was in 2007 where he appeared in the shows Asian Treasures and Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang.

TRANSFER TO ABS-CBN

Paul was in GMA Network from 2004 to 2007 before he started his long career in ABS CBN in 2008. Between 10-12 years old, he played young versions of the main character in series such as Dyosa, Dahil May Isang Ikaw, Habang May Buhay and Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo.

His stint in ABS CBN allowed him to work on his singing and dancing skills as well. He has been a mainstay in the Sunday variety show ASAP from 2011 to 2018 where he is a performer. In this show he worked with the hosts Sarah Geronimo, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Piolo Pascual, Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano.

NOTABLE WORKS

Among his notable works is the romantic, family, drama show You’re My Home in 2015 where he played one of the main roles – Vince Fontanilla/Kennedy Cabanero. In this series, he worked with A-listers such as Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta.

IN 2018, he returned back to GMA Network. Among his notable work is his stint as a host and performer in the television variety show Studio 7, hosted by Christian Bautista, Mark Bautista and Julie Anne San Jose. His comeback primetime series is Kara Mia, where he was paired with Barbie Forteza and Mika dela Cruz.

Paul also landed a role in the world wide Korean drama hit Descendants of the Sun. The Philippine remake, which was aired in 2020 starred Dingdong Dantes and Jennylyn Mercado. Paul landed the role of Marty Talledo, a supporting cast for the show.

CURRENT PROJECTS

Paul definitely has been busy last year. He appeared in the television comedy anthology show Dear Uge Presents: Jing, and Bato as PJ Abril. IN the same year, he was in the drama romantic fantasy series The Lost Recipe. The show which aired in the first quarter of the year, tells the story of a chef who was inspired by the Mother of Philippine Cuisine. Due to a bad review from a food critic, he went on a drinking spree, met a magical being and was transported back in time, only to meet the one and only Conchita Valencia – his idol all this time. Paul played the role of Franklin Vergara in the show.

He is set to appear on the highly anticipated drama action series Lolong starring Ruru Madrid, Shaira Diaz, Christopher De Leon, Jean Garcia, Rochelle Pangilinan and Bembol Roco.

Paul is set to appear in the Monaylisa and Me episode of the Regal Studio Presents this Sunday, January 9. The show will air after Dear Uge. So let us watch and support Paul in his new project!
