Things You Didn’t know about Kris Bernal

JUST LIKE most of the viewers of the 4th season of StarStruck, I also rooted for Kris Bernal to win.

Her rise to fame had been swift. In just two years after her StarStruck stint, she has been landing leading roles left and right, being paired with other bankable actors of her generation. She is definitely impressive.

But apart from her showbusiness career, I like Kris because she is one business savy lady! She juggles her time on and off screen managing businesses here and there. Does she even rests? Now that she turns a year older, let us look back at the things you didn’t know about Kris Bernal.

Kris Bernal

EARLY LIFE

Kris was born as Kristine Ann Tan Bernal on May 17, 1989 in Quezon City, Philippines to a Filipino father and a Chinese mother. She has three other siblings – older sisters and a younger brother.

She studied at the Diliman Preparatory School during her grade school years and pursued her high school education at the Holy Family School for her high school. She studied for Nursing at the Trinity University of Asia.

CAREER BEGINNINGS

Kris started her career in showbusiness by joining the reality talent search StarStruck in 2006. She eventually won the Ultimate Love Team award with Mart Escudero. After winning in 2007, she immediately became part of the regular roster of performers in the Sunday entertainment show SOP Rules. Simultaneously, she became casted in the comedy television series Boys Nxt Door.

Though she is originally paired with Mart Escudero due to the nature of their prize in Starstruck, she was eventually paired with Ultimate Hunk Aljur Abrenica and their tandem became one of GMA-7’s most liked by the viewers. Their first project as the lead stars is ‘All my Life’.

Kris continued to appear in supporting roles in television series such as Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan, Dyesebel and Luna Mystika. Only a few years after her television debut, she landed the lead role in the drama romance television series Sine Novela: Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin together with Aljur Abrenica in 2009.

BREAKTHROUGH

She became a constant staple in television shows, appearing yet again in the same year with Aljur Abrenica in the series All My Life. The following year, the love team starred in the drama romance fantasy series The Last PrinceKris showcased her dancing skills and acting compatibility with other actors when she was paired with co-Starstruck Alumna Mark Herras in the drama dance series Time of My Life.

She had proven how much of a bankable actor she is when she landed the iconic lead role in the Korean classic Coffee Prince in 2012. She challenged herself to a new role when she accepted the lead character for the drama series Little Nanay in 2015. She starred beside Chlaui Malayao and the one and only superstar, Ms. Nora Aunor.

Kris Bernal

You cannot deny the fact that Kris Bernal is one of GMA-7’s most reliable drama lead actresses. Through the years, she showed her acting prowess in shows like Hiram na Puso, Impostora, Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko and Hanggang sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko.

FILMS

Kris has an extensive career as a television actress ever since she graduated from StarStruck. Regardless, she also dabbled in a couple of movies. She debuted in the film Loving You in 2008, a melodramatic love story that starred Yasmien Kurdi and JC De Vera. IN the same year, Kris appeared as a supporting role in the fantasy horror film Mag Ingat Ka Sa Kulam, acting besides veteran actors Judy Ann Santos and Dennis Trillo.

Kris Bernal and onscreen partner Aljur Abrenica teamed up for the movie ‘Nandito Ako’ which was shot in Bohol. She appeared in Ang Panday 2 in 2011, as Alira Naswen. Her latest film was in 2012, Guni Guni, a psychological horror movie which stars Lovi Poe and Benjamin Alves.

Kris Bernal was last seen in the action-drama film ‘Kontradiksyon’ with Jake Cuenca, Katrina Halili and Ritz Azul.

YOUTUBE AND OTHER BUSINESSES

Kris currently concentrates on her Youtube channel – Kris Bernal which currently has 376+ thousand subscribers. In her channel, she shows her everyday life which includes her regular workout, a day in her life and others.

She is also a certified businesswoman, did you know that? She runs her businesses House of Gogi (a Korean barbeque restaurant) and even started her very own make up brand – SHE cosmetics. What a wonder woman!

Isn’t she such a lady boss? I think she is such a great role model for women (and men) of our generation. Happy birthday, our idol!
