You probably are living under a rock if you don’t know Ken Chan. First appearing in a  midnight entertainment show as a staple performer and hosts, Ken had proved himself to be so much more throughout the years.

From being a performer and host, he dabbled in various projects that made him a mainstay in various television dramas and television shows.

EARLY LIFE

Ken Steven Angeles Chan, or more popularly known as Ken Chan was born on January 17, 1993 at Parañaque, Philippines. Prior to plunging into showbusiness, he already appeared in numerous television commercials and even appeared in a youth oriented magazine. However, it was in the early part of 2011 when he finally joined showbusiness. He was already pursuing his university degree from the De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde (Tourism) when he debuted in the glitz and glamour of the entertainment industry.

CAREER BEGINNINGS

Ken has been a host and a performer of the iconic midnight show Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman from 2011 to 2016 alongside Jake Vargas, Sanya Lopez and Teejay Marquez. He first debuted in the television drama “Time of My Life” as Rudolf in 2011.

This was followed by a role in the popular teenage drama show “Tween Hearts” in 2011 and 2012. He continuously did minor roles in television dramas such as “Biritera”, “Home Sweet Home”, “Yesterday’s Bride” and “Rhodora X”

Apart from his hosting and performing gigs, he also had been a consistent face at the drama anthology “Maynila” and “Magpakailanman” in 2015.

BREAKTHROUGH ROLE IN ‘DESTINY ROSE’

His considered breakthrough roles was in the award winning television drama series “Destiny Rose”, where he played the roles of Joselito “Joey” Vergara, Jr.  and the titular character Destiny Rose Flores-Antonioni, a transwoman, from 2015 to 2016. For this role, he won the Teleserye Actor of The Year at the 2016 PEP List Awards. He was also nominated for the Best Drama Actor Award at the 30th PMPC Star Awards for Television.

He again furthered his popularity and credentials as a versatile actor when he landed the role of Yuan Lee in the television drama “Meant To Be”, acting alongside Jak Roberto, Barbie Forteza, Ivan Dorschner, and Addy Raj.

He continued to awe audience and fans with his versatility and acting range when he starred in the drama family series “My Special Tatay” playing the character of  Roberto “Boyet” M. Villaroman, an autistic man who dreams of the love of Susan Villaroman, played by Rita Daniela. For this performance, he and Rita won the 17th Gawad Tanglaw Awards for the Best Lead Performance in a TV Series and  the 50th Box Office Entertainment Awards for TV Actor of the Year in A Daytime Drama Series.

Because of the surprise rise of the KitRen tandem of Ken Chan and Rita Daniela, they were given a romcom project ‘One of the Baes’.

KEN CHAN MOVIES

Ken debuted in his first movie as Justing in the “Tween Academy:Class of 2012” which was released in 2011. The next year, he appeared in two films “Just One Summer” as Keith and “My Kontrabida Girl” as JC. He also appeared in the Cinemalaya Film ‘1st Ko si 3rd’.

His other film appearances are in the MMFF stable, Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers (playing the role of Allan or a1) and a cameo role in the blockbuster film “Imagine You and Me” alongside Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza.

He also starred as Barbie Forteza’s love interest in the romantic drama film ‘This Time I’ll Be Sweeter’

CURRENT PROJECTS

Ken is set to appear in a movie “Huling Ulan Sa Tag Araw” as Luis. He acts alongside his love team, Rita Daniela and other veteran actors such as Richard yap and Lotlot De Leon. The film is directed by Louie Ignacio.

On TV, RitKen fans have something to look forward to! The tentative title of the show is ‘Ang Dalawang Ikaw’.
