SIGURO NAMAN, NARINIG na ninyo ang mga awitin ni Mark Alain sa FM radio at napanood ang kanyang music video in the music channel under Sony Music. Na-surprise kami nang malaman namin ang guwapong singer pala ang umawit ng theme song ng Sisid (Sa Piling Ko) at Blusang Itim (Maghihintay) ng GMA-7. Ang recent project niya is collaborating with TV5’s Star Factor 1st Runner-Up Morisette Amon for “Pangako”, the official soundtruck of the network’s newest soap, Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum. Fans have hailed Mark Alain as the reigning “King of Teleserye Theme Songs”.
Tinanong namin si Mark kung sinong artistang babae ang malakas ang sex appeal para sa kanya at puwede siyang ma-in love ? “For me, si Kris Aquino, iba kasi ‘yung personality niya, ang lakas ng sex appeal. Napaka-straight forward, walang pretentions, totoo sa sarili kaya everybody loves her. Ibang klase rin siyang magmahal, kapag na-in love, ipaglalaban ka niya sa kanyang pamilya. There’s something in her na madali mo siyang mahalin,” pagmamalaking sabi ni Mark.
Malaki pala ang paghanga ni Mark kay Angeline Quinto. Pangarap niya maka-duet ang dalaga at makilala nang personal. “Saludo ako sa kanya as a singer. Mararamdaman mo ‘yung lyrics ng songs sa kanyang mga awitin and with feelings. Iba rin ‘yung personality ni Angeline lalo na kapag nasa stage siya at nagpe-perform. ‘Yung boses niya walang pinagkaiba sa CD at sa live performance niya, pareho ang tunog,” dugtong pa ng binata.
Sa totoo lang, tipong artistahin ang dating ni Mark. Bukod sa maganda na ang boses, malakas pa ang sex appeal kaya hindi malayong mabigyan siya ng break to do teleserye. If ever, willing ba naman siya ? “Of course, puwede ko ring i-try kung sakaling may mag-offer sa akin to do soap. Pero as of now, priority ko ang singing secondary na lang ang pag-aartista. May mga singers din naman tayo, artista rin tulad nina Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales at Aljur Abrenica. Napagsasabay nila ang singing at acting at the same time,” pahayag niya.
Musical idols ni Mark ay sina Michael Jackson at James Ingram. He hopes to leave his own footprint in the music industry and make the most of his lottery jackpot by creating ballads worth remembering. “My music is generally a mixture of pop and ballads that has a lot of texture, emotion and depth in it. It usually carries the themes of love, hope, sacrifice and determination. You know, when you’re a simple man with huge dreams, but didn’t know where to start…” sabi ni Mark. Mark’s styles uses hints of pop to spice-up romantic tracks, such in “Sa Piling Ko”, “Loving You”, “Isang Araw” and Ika’y Mapapasaakin.”
Mark is the former vocalist of the band Frio which popularized the song “Alive”, to his independent recording of Maghihintay that lead to his discovery and eventually inking a deal with major multi-national label, Sony Music Entertainment Philippines for recording. He continues to collaborate with his old bandmates Raz Itum and Tristan Climaco, who wrote some of the songs in this new album.
