Now, on his return, bongga kaagad ang kanyang project being bida sa “Ang Panday”. He bagged the iconic role with literally no sweat.
“Siyempre may pressure when I got a phone call. Actually, matagal bago nag-sink in sa akin. ‘Totoo ba ‘to? Gagawin ko ba ang Panday?’ But noong na-realize ko na gagawin ko ang project, na it’s the right time, I just gave my best. From the moment na nakausap ko si Carlo J. Caparas, si Boss Vic del Rosario, na ako na ang Panday, from that day on until now, I haven’t stop working hard. I prepared for the show and I’m surrounded by very supportive people and brilliant minds,” say ni Richard when asked if there is pressure now that he is playing an iconic role na pinasikat ng yumaong si Fernando Poe, Jr.
“And it is perfect timing. Matagal na akong nawala at ‘eto na ‘yun. I’m here to stay,” dagdag pa niya.
For now, Richard’s Gutierrez concentration is on his role in “Ang Panday”.
“Naka-concentrate ako ngayon sa Panday. I’m not thinking of any project right now. Ang buong pagkatao ko ngayon ay nakatutok sa Panday. In last two years, kinailangan ko rin ‘yon. As a person, I need to step back and reassess everything. Kinailangan ko ‘yung two years na ‘yon.”
