‘Di pa pala madre
Chin Chin Gutierrez, magsasaka sa monasteryo!

BOY MEETS tomboy.

In particular, we’re referring to Boy Abunda and his subject on last Sunday’s The Buzz, si Charice Pempengco who—at long last—admitted to being, “Tomboy po ako!”

The international singing sensation’s declaration was not any surprising. Matagal na naman kasing paksa ang kanyang tunay na sexual preference o orientation based on her physical makeover. Charice simply had to validate public opinion.

Straight from the horse’s mouth, nakumpirma na ang noo’y ispekulasyon lang. If only for this, as strongly built tulad ng pyramid ay tumibay rin ang aming paghanga kay Charice keber if her coming out would have an adverse effect on her career. Like the pyramids of Egypt, our admiration for Charice’s honesty stands and withstands the test of time.

Masuwerteng kay Kuya Boy inamin ni Charice na siya’y isang tomboy. Mind you, tulad ng salitang “bakla”, there also exists a thesaurus that enumerates synonyms equivalent sa salitang “tomboy”. At least in showbiz lingo, nariyan ang mga katagang tivoli, tiburcio, magic, tung, tunggril, pars, lenggua, etc.

And why was Charice lucky to have been interviewed by Kuya Boy? Ang King of Talk lang naman ang spokesperson ng party-list na Ladlad na nagsusulong sa pantay na karapatan ng mga kabilang sa LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender) Community.

And with the gay rights all over the world being fought vigorously, pasok sa banga ang isyu kay Charice.

But more than Charice’s confession, sa wakas ay ikatatahimik na ng isip at kalooban ng mang-aawit ang walang takot niyang pag-amin.

Ngayon mas masusukat ang pagtanggap ng publiko kay Charice. Must  talent rise above gender issue? Dapat lang.

As the cliché goes, at the end of the day, ang mananaig pa rin above all else ay ang talent ng sinumang alagad ng sining regardless of age, race, sex, isama na ang weight, Vice Ganda!

Here’s sincerely hoping nga lang na matapos ang paglaladlad ni Charice ng kanyang tunay na kasarian, dito na rin magwawakas ang anumang sigalot nila ng kanilang ina, who should all the more show unwavering  support for and acceptance of her daughter.

For whoever she is, and for whoever she is not.

EVER WONDERED kung bakit out of circulation these days si Chin Chin Gutierrez?

Newspaper reports have it na nagmadre na raw ang mahusay na aktres, now confined at a monastery in Tagaytay City. Hindi na rin daw Chin Chin ang kanyang pangalan as she has assumed a “sisterly” name.

Kagyat na nag-dispatch ang Startalk ng crew sa kumbento sa naturang lugar to check on Chin Chin. Is she now a full-fledged nun, or simply a novice like Maria played by Julie Andrews in the 1960s film The Sound of Music?

When the crew finally got there, napag-alaman ng Startalk that Chin Chin is actually a NON-NUN, kundi isang “OFW” but not to be confused with being an Overseas Filipino Worker kundi—hold your breath—Organic Farm Worker!

You read it right.

Whatever Chin Chin’s desire is, ang mahalaga’y nasa kaibuturan ng kanyang puso ang kanyang ginagawa kung saan ibayong kasiyahan din ang dulot nito, which she perhaps may have not found in showbiz.

Go, sister. Who knows, ang hinahangad mong sisterly form begins from being firm with a farm?
