Getting A DFA Online Appointment
The very first step you must take is getting a confirmed online appointment via the DFA website.
To do this, visit the official site of the Department of Foreign Affairs. Once you have read the Terms and Conditions and you agree with them, click on the box beside it.
Then, choose ‘Start Individual Appointment’ if you’re applying by yourself or ‘Start Group Appointment’ if you’re going with your family. You will then be redirected to a page asking you to select the number of applicants.
After selecting the number of applicants, choose the site location or DFA office, which is ideally the one that’s closest to you. Via the drop-down buttons, choose the region you wish to set an appointment in, the country you are in, and the site you wish to visit.
Then, pick an available date and time from the calendar. The dates in green are those available, while those that are in red are already filled up. You will only have 20 minutes to reserve your slots, so make sure to be decisive.
Filling Out The Application Form
After making an appointment, you will automatically be redirected to the DFA’s online application form. Here, you are required to fill out your personal information, such as your full name, date of birth, contact details, email address, and more.
You also need to fill out family information, such as your parents’ names and citizenship. Moreover, you will also be asked to provide your address. Once you have filled out all the necessary details, review this once again and click ‘Submit.’
After submitting the online application form, you will be asked to pay the processing fee. Regular processing is valued at P950 and takes approximately 10 to 15 days, while express processing is valued at P1,200 and only takes 5 to 7 days.
To proceed, simply choose the type of processing you want. Then, select ‘Pay Now.’ A pop-up message will appear and you must tick the ‘I agree’ box prior to clicking on ‘Proceed to Payment.’
The payment page will provide a variety of payment options and reminders, as well as the total amount you need to pay. You can pay in different service centers or convenience stores.
Once you selected your payment option, an email will be sent to you containing your Payment Reference Number.
You only have 24 hours to settle your payment and you will need to provide your Payment Reference Number. After paying, you will receive your appointment confirmation. Print the email and the accompanying PDF file on an A4-type paper.

- Original and photocopy of your Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) birth certificate
