Sa kanyang pagtanggi, marami tuloy ang nang-iintriga na baka mai-insecure si Amethyst kay Pearl lalo’t sikat na sikat na ito sa pareho nilang larangan: ang pagpapatawa.
Isang common friend namin ni Amethyst has this to say: “Si Amethyst, insecure kay Pearl? Of course not! Ayaw lang talaga ni Amethyst na makatrabaho si Pearl dahil may attitude problem ito!” Magkaiba raw kasi ang mga salitang “sikat” at “feeling sikat” and Pearl – based on her track record – falls flat into the second category.
Naku, need I reveal their names?
KUNG TATLONG BESES pinakasalan ni Sen. Bong Revilla si Lani Mercado, hold your breath, tinalbog ni Mike Defensor ang senador who married his wife Julie five times in a span of 14 years! Now, isn’t that one for the books? Doesn’t it only go to show kung anong klaseng mangingibig ang susunod na Ama ng Lungsod ng Quezon?
Konsehal pa lang noon si Papa Mike (Papa Mike daw, o!) ng Kyusi when he got smitten by Julie’s charm on June 1, 1994. Two months later, their paths crossed again at a grocery store along Katipunan Avenue. ‘Yun ang kanilang formal introduction through Mike’s sister Marjorie, Julie’s friend. More than a year later, October 15, 1995, Mike and Julie tied the knot in a civil rites at the latter’s residence.
Church wedding naman ang sumunod noong June 1, 1996 sa Manila Cathedral. Salubong naman sa New Year ang ikatlo nilang pagpapakasal sa Las Vegas, Nevada on December 31, 2004. Sa gitna naman ng kanilang Carribean cruise naganap ang kanilang fourth wedding on May 29, 2008 aboard the Seranade of The Seas ship.
Ang ikalima nilang pag-iisang dibdib took place at a church in Canaan (called The Promised Land), Jerusalem on March 30, 2009. If I’m not mistaken, this is the first in the entire history of Filipino married couples having gone through the most number of renewal vows.
Personal mang aspeto ito sa buhay ni Papa Mike, totally unrelated to local politics, pero maganda at significant ang ipinahihiwatig nito. Mike is unquestionably cognizant of the fact that the family is the basic unit of society. Kung ganito ang kanyang pagpapahalaga sa pamilya, his love and concern can extend far beyond.
It helps to examine any person under scrunity. Ang alam lang kasi natin tungkol kay Papa Mike is his impressive portfolio having been the youngest Cabinet member, or the youngest elected Congressman, or the youngest elected Councilor, among many others. Pero sa likod ng kanyang pagiging pinakabatang achiever with an effective management record to his sleeve, ginawaran din siya ng UIirang Ama Award in 2002 by the National Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Foundation of the Phils.
This non-political award says it all.
