Kris Aquino, not running for office

I SAID IT once, I will say it again: should Kris Aquino run for public office, she has a good fighting chance.

Hindi itinanggi ni Kris sa interview sa kanya ng Startalk na kaplastikan kung sasabihin niya that entering politics has never crossed her mind. At hindi naman ‘yon kataka-taka: her late father Ninoy Aquino was a brilliant senator during his time, naging pangulo ang kanyang inang si Cory, her brother Noynoy climbed the political ladder, nasa pulitika rin ang kanyang tiyuhin na si Butz, sumabak din noon ang tiyahin niyang si Tessie, so how could she not inherit the political genes of her predecessors?

Maraming plus factor mayroon si Kris, she’s one of the highest paid TV personalities, ergo, her stature comes with fame.  To top it all, isa si Kris sa mga intelihente nating artista who can pass for a lawmaker. With ace basketeer James Yap for a spouse, may hatak din si Kris sa sector ng palakasan, all this makes for a shoo-in sa katauhan ni Kris who’s also known for her integrity.

The sad news, however, is that taking the political plunge is not in Kris’ scheme of things, not in the next elections and beyond. Nakipagkasundo na raw kasi siya sa kanyang ina na habang ang kapatid na si Noynoy ay nasa larangang ito, the least that she can do is to help boost the latter’s career.

Samantala, speaking of Tita Cory, mabilis daw itong nakare-recover mula sa kanyang operasyon. Bagama’t maselan ang pinagdaanang surgery nito that required incision, after the 24th hour ay pinatanggal na raw nito ang isinasaksak na pain killers. However, in two weeks’ time, sasailalim daw uli ang dating pangulo sa isa na namang procedure, hence Kris is enjoining everyone to join her family in prayers.

Yes, make it the entire nation.

HINDI LANG BASTA nairaos ang birthday concert kamakailan ni Jennylyn Mercado sa Music Museum, in fact, it was a resounding success.

Ayon kay Becky Aguila, manager ng singer-actress, maituturing na show-stopper ang pag-awit ni Jen ng Angels na idinedikeyt niya sa kanyang anak na si Alex Jazz. Moved to tears, maging ang audience daw empathized with Jen.  Kinantahan din daw siya ng mga ito ng birthday song, na ikina-touch din ni Jen while a cake was being brought.

Dagdag pa ni Becky, “despite the odds” ay matagumpay raw ang naturang concert (titled  I am Woman). Hindi na in-elaborate pa ni Becky what odds she was particularly referring to, pero isa roon ang staged “gimmick” ng kanyang mismong alaga na ‘nowhere to be found days’ before the “Judgment Night.”

Becky’s text message ended with: “Jen pulled it through.” Hindi ko lang nalinaw kay Becky which Jen was able to pull through: ‘yung concert o ‘yung gimmick ng alaga niya?
