John Rendez, wala raw silang ginagawang nakakahiya ni Ate Guy

NANG –MAG-HIT ang solo album ni John Rendez na “Metal Dog/ There Can Only Be One”, nagkaroon siya ng sariling identity as a rap artist.

“For me, rap is attitude. The album is exciting, I practice it all the time. When I was in the bathroom, singing  and when I wake-up, singing  the song. It’s a very well done album and I’m very proud of it. I think it’s gonna be well if given a chance. People look at it from the point of view that is coming back, eleven cuts, all original,” he said.

As of now, focus muna si John sa pagiging rapper/singer and to promote his latest album and eventually, next year, isusunod na niyang  gawin ang kanyang second album, all original composition. Nag-start na nga siyang mag-compose if ever may time ito to do it. But for now, focus muna si John to promote the album.

“Siguro one at the time. Hayaan muna natin ‘to come out in the market not only here in Metro Manila but also in different provinces. I’m happy dahil maganda ang feedback sa album ko, word of mouth. Considering na hindi ko pa masyadong napo-promote how good the album is. My songs are really talaga from the heart and I’m really serious about it,” say niya.

Pakiramdam ni John R, music industry is dying.

“Music is really dying because it’s lack of people who have talent to bring it up. But there is still some change like, I was maybe one of them sana. I think, Pinoy music is not a certain style, it’s a Pilipino artist, make Pinoy music. It could be in English but still Pinoy music, all original OPM that’s what the album is. For my next album “I’m The Morning Star”, it includes “Manhu” (human backward).”

Given a chance to be an actor again, will you accept the offer? “I can be an actor, I’m an action star for awhile. I don’t consider action is acting, it’s just having fun. I’ve done few movies with Ronnie Ricketts and Michael Rivero “Mga Batang .45”. Well, the industry seems to look upon me as a rapper and they know that I’m also an actor, why not?” simpleng sagot ni JR.

If ever may free time ni John R, he write songs. Stay away from trouble and making friends. “I wanna be active in my career. I wanna be successful. I don’t wanna be left alone.”

“I don’t know, If ever, I wanna do some good talaga. I don’t wanna bring good image just to make money. That’s my purpose, I will not stuck around for so long. The reason I stick around to tell some people that, mayroon o wala, the friendship still there. May tao kapag sinabi mong kaibigan mo, kaibigan mong talaga. Kahit anong sabihin nilang pambababoy o pambabastos, ‘di ba? Alam ko ang totoo, kung gago lang akong tao, matagal na akong nawala. I’m a good person. I don’t have lots of friends, I choose my friends, I have few friends for 20 years,” pahayag nito.

“Basta, I wanna do something that I fell comfortable doing it and the people around me. Maybe, they can contributing you know but not negatively. There’s a lot in the industry they will bring you down. I have a lots of ideas, do a lots of things but there always an obstacle. I don’t want to deal to those people. I just wanna be successful, do something to put up there like typical showbiz.”

Wala na silang maisip so, they have to go back to the old issue. It’s pathetic, kung ‘yun lang ang laman ng utak nila. Hanggang ngayon ganyan pa rin sila, 2013 na. Still Nora, Tirso Cruz and ano? Grabe, tapos na ‘yan, patay na ‘yung ganyang mentality. We have to move on forward. Iba na ang showbiz ngayon.”

How do you describe yourself? “Very intelligent, sensitive, outspoken sometimes and very, very special. Sometimes, I tried to make good the things I’ve done. I’ll try not to do bad things but I have the potential to be… In my principle, even I do something wrong because of my principle, it’s  make me feel, I’m doing the good thing, ‘di ba? I’m judge by my action,” aniya.

Say niya, “I’ll try to make my things… I say matters, I don’t talk stupid stuff. I rather not to talk at all.”

“Ate Guy is a simple person to explain, no else to be said. We’re not doing anything na nakakahiya. Bakit hindi nila galangin si Ate Guy?”
