This is for you to judge.
It should have been EITHER the joy that his program gave, OR the sorrow that Tita Cory’s interment brought.
Fast forward. Sino’ng mag-aakala na ang papalit pala kay Willie sa nilayasan niyang noontime slot was Kris herself, danga’t nga lang that the latter’s takeover via a repackaged show was a dismal flop.
Kasagsagan noon ng eleksiyon, with Kris’s brother, then-Senator Noynoy Aquino who was being groomed to be the next President. Noynoy’s lovelife became a public issue, nobya niya kasi si Shalani Soledad from the lower rank of government service.
For whatever reason, nagkahiwalay sina P-Noy at Shalani. At tulad ng alam ng lahat, Shalani is now Willie’s co-host in Willing Willie on TV5. Kung may tsismis nang nabighani si Willie kay Shalani may be attributed to her resemblance to the TV host’s ex-wife Liz Almoro.
And talk about the name Liz, nauugnay naman si P-Noy sa kanyang stylist na si Liz Uy, who has reportedly won Kris’s nod of approval kaysa kay Shalani. Ito namang si Shalani ay certified alaga na ni Lolit Solis, who used to handle Kris… who has issued a stern order nga ba kay Willie to refrain from pursuing Shalani? Na ex-dyowa ni P-Noy, na kuya ni Kris?
Hay, pray, tell me, aren’t Willie and Kris connected somehow in some part of this endangered planet?
KUNG ANG TINUTUKOY na My Amnesia Girl in Star Cinema’s latest offering ay si Toni Gonzaga, in real life, ang maituturing na meron namang “selective amnesia” ay ang leading man nitong si John Lloyd Cruz.
For Lloydie, enough of made-up stories tungkol sa kanyang personal na buhay that he would rather force himself to slip into a phase of voluntary forgetfulness. Deadma na lang siya sa mga malisyosong tsika involving him and real-life girlfriend Shaina Magdayao.
Basta happy siya, period. And it’s all that matters. Add to that ay ang visibility these days ng mahusay na aktor in ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida teleserye na Imortal (where he plays the vulnerable Matteo, love interest of Angel Locsin bilang Lia, the she-wolf whose mission is redemption).
With his elder brother reuniting with his family this holiday season, bakit nga raw ba pag-aaksayahan ng panahon ni Lloydie ang mga ganitong intriga when he can focus his energies on more productive stuff?
Samantala, mukhang true to form daw ang papel ni Toni bilang Lloydie’s amnesia girl in the movie. Whereas daw kasi na press-friendly noon ang hitad, Toni has developed a somewhat hostile trait towards the press.
This amnesia girl’s head has to be banged!
AS EXPECTED, FILLED to the rafters ang nakaraang concert ni Ai Ai delas Alas marking her 20th year in showbiz aptly titled Akin Ang Tronong ‘To at the Big Dome.
Sabihin nang may pagkamayabang ang pamagat, but shouldn’t Ai Ai be just too proud of her achievements as a comedienne par excellence who has made a successful crossover to the concert scene? Ergo, marapat lang that Ai Ai holds tight to her throne dahil none of her fellow comediennes (isama na ang mga bakla) who came after her have stolen her royal seat!
Twenty years of being able to sustain such an unwavering popularity is a feat to beat. In fairness to the comediennes-come-lately, they acknowledge Ai Ai’s supremacy… ikaw na ang tumagal nang dalawampung taon yet your comedy is as fresh and sweet-smelling as a rosebud.
My apologies, however, sa hitad. Nagdaos kasi si Ai Ai ng thanksgiving bash sa clubhouse ng kanyang tinitirhang posh subdivision last Saturday, nagkataong Startalk had a toast to another tale of heroism of epic proportions sa pagbabalik ni Manny Pacquiao.
My apologies again, dahil nu’ng mag-text brigade si Ai Ai sa aming mga ka-close niyang college friends bilang continuation sa kanyang pa-thank you party at Zirkoh ay hindi ko pa rin ‘yon sinipot.
The culprit: katamaran.
