SINAMANTALA NA namin ang aming manaka-nakang pagdalaw sa The Buzz last Sunday, nataon kasing grand presscon ‘yon ng—if we’re not mistaken—226th movie produced by Star Cinema spanning 20 years, ang Four Sisters And a Wedding.

We came just in time, VTR ng isyung kinapapalooban ni Charice Pempengco ang umeere, no need for any of its hosts to remain at the studio.

Sa halip na dumiretso kami sa Dolphy Theatre, we took a detour patungong studio ng The Buzz. Thanks to a fair-skinned, good-looking guy stationed within the studio premises who allowed us entry en route sa dressing room ni Kuya Boy.

As usual, nagkaroon kami ng palitan ng pleasantries ng King of Talk until our conversation meandered on politics. Lingid sa kaalaman ng marami, Kuya Boy and this writer supported a mayoral candidate in Pasay City nitong nakaraang mid-term elections.

Personally, Kuya Boy sees beyond this. An already shoo-in hindi pa man ginaganap ang susunod na halalan, nais ni Kuya Boy na maglingkod sa kanyang lalawigan which is composed of 23 towns.

Bahagi raw ng inspirasyong nagtulak kay Kuya Boy to seek a gubernatorial seat—aside from addressing the most basic concerns of his kababayans—is the political journey, ‘ika nga, ni Vilma Santos. Tulad ng alam ng lahat, Ate Vi had served as Lipa City Mayor sa tatlong magkakasunod na termino until she aspired and won bilang kauna-unahang babaeng Gobernador ng Batangas. And Ate Vi still holds on to her post.

Ang desisyon ni Kuya Boy na tumakbong Governor in his native Eastern Samar is further bolstered by his friends who have greater political discernment. And to quote his anonymous adviser, “Boy, if you really want to serve, go local first…not national.”

Such complaint led to an exchange of legal skirmishes na tumagal din nang mahigit sa isang taon. Every courtroom—from Quezon City to San Juan to Pasig to Caloocan—kung saan nagtatagpo ang dalawang palabang babae was always an entertainment spectacle.

But in showbiz—or In any field—only permanent interests are here to stay. Tumatagal lang, but animosity always turns into renewed friendship.

Kasabay ng pag-urong ng kanilang mga demanda sa isa’t isa ay pagri-release na rin ni Annabelle kina Alyanna at Ynna upang makaalagwa na, after all, this is the very root of their hostility towards each other.

While Nadia claims to have been healed bunga ng kanyang pagiging aktibong muli sa simbahan, it may be correct to say na ikinatunaw rin ng matigas na puso ni Annabelle was when she lost in the congressional race in her native Cebu in the last mid-term elections.

Surely, ang pagkatalo ni Annabelle ay nagsilbing humbling experience if only to realize that rekindling her friendship with Nadia must be the foreground before unifying a disunited provincial district.
