Anti-Corruption Meeting, Dadaluhan ng 500 Parliamentarians

NAKATAKDA NANG dumating sa Metro Manila ang mga delegasyon mula sa iba’t ibang bansa para dumalo sa 5th Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) meeting na gaganapin sa Enero 30 hanggang Pebrero 2.

Sinabi ni  Sen. Edgardo Angara na mahalaga ang nasabing pagpupulong upang lalong mapalakas ang kampanya ng gobyerno laban sa korapsyon.

“This will be a good opportunity not only to showcase the anti-corruption strides achieved by the Philippine government but to learn from leading anti-corruption experts as well. Anti-corruption must be an integral element in the culture of politics in the Philippines and in other countries worldwide,” ani Angara.

Kabilang sa dadalo ay si Huguette Labelle, ang chairperson ng Transparency International na siyang naglalathala ng taunang Corruption Perceptions Index.

Ilan pa sa key speakers ay kinabibilangan ni Nurhayati Ali Assegaf, presidente ng coordinating committee of the meeting of women parliamentarians ng Indonesia’s Inter-Parliamentary Union; Amadou Bouare, kilalang expert sa parliaments role laban sa corruption; at John Nye, professor of economics sa George Mason University at research director ng National Research University – Higher School of Economics sa Moscow.

Samantala, tinatayang nasa 500 parliamentarians mula sa anim na kontinente ang dadalo sa apat na araw na pagpupulong.
