Amateur filmmaker was condemned in Facebook because of arrogance!

Host: You also used theater actors for your film. Is it usually the case when you do shorts or independents, do you usually get theater actors and not some of the big names in the industry?
Santos: Ah, well, personally, I find the theater actors, better to work with because they don’t complain, you can feed them Sky Flakes three meals a day, and pay them in catfood basically.

Host: Because they usually do it for free a lot of the time.
Santos: And they’re never late. They cry when you want them to cry. Other actors kasi, you have to hit them first, so that’s why I like working with theater (something) …”

Gosh.

If it was an attempt to be witty, then he failed miserably!

“Yes, Mell. BOYCOTT!

“We were not fed Skyflakes or catfood either. We had fun doing that film. This Rafael Santos’ career is nipped in the bud!

I think he’s the one who needs to go to acting school para naman he can convey comedy/ sarcasm much clearer.

“Also, when you engage in witty banter, you proceed, afterwards, to explain the truth to the question you …just answered.

“Seeing that he stopped after saying that awful punchline meant that it was the only thing he intended to say.

“So either masama talaga ang ugali niya, or bobo siya. Or both.”

“Guys, update: the arrogant Rafa Santos refuses to apologize daw kasi his statement was “taken out of context.” WHAT CONTEXT?!

  2. Lyra,

Maybe Rafa Santos and You did not mean those words literally but you used the wrong figures of speech. It’s like calling gay people faggots or black people as nigger.

Try speaking without using any derogatory statement.

    Got it?

  5. Vincent,

“Nameless” does not mean having no first name–or surnames. Many theater actors are brilliant artists but simply not known nationally.

But I’m not surprised that you’ll take it literally as you would Skyflakes and the cat food!

  6. Lyra,

We are not NAMELESS performers. We have names. And surprise! We even have surnames, too. It’s not our fault your world is limited and you only know the names of people who appear on television and on mainstream films. NAMELESS is just as bad as the CAT FOOD and SKY FLAKES comment.

  7. Shebie, P… Queen, Elvie & Billy,

Before you make senseless comments about an important issue make sure your brains are wired to your fingers. You side with this uneducated newbie director because WHAT? Guwapo siya? Mukhang mayaman siya? Nagsasalita siya ng English? Excuse me. English is just ONE language. There are more complex languages that theater people know how to communicate — the language of dance, movement, music, acting and writing. If Rafa was telling a joke, he’s clearly a better clown than a standup comic. If he was trying to be witty, he failed miserably and horribly. If he was making an important statement about the indie industry, he needs to hire a speech writer. Though he knows how to speak the language he obviously he does not know the nuances of the English language.

That is why they resort to theater actors and other nameless performers. This is the point Rafael Santos was trying to say. Why take the cat food statement literally! Ganyan na ba kababaw mag-isip ang show biz?

  9. isa pa itong si billy… point taken but still he could have wrapped up his statement by putting his so called witty statement in a proper context.

  10. The writer is over reacting, and the director’s statement is obviously taken out of context.

I guess ur just like Rafael Santos – either masama din talaga ang ugali niyo or bobo or BOTH! kaawa-awa kayo.. haizzzz…

  12. Wala namang masama sa sinabi ng direktor. Mali lang ang interpretation sa sinabi niya.

He’s not insulting the theater people. He’s paying tribute to them in figurative language. He’s only saying that theater people do work professionally in any environment, kahit ano ipakain hindi sila nag-iinarte, unlike some PG (patay-gutom) people in show biz!

  14. I GUESS IN SHOWBIZ IF YOU TELL THE TRUTH AND IT HURTS YOU’LL END UP HAVING LOTS OF ENEMIES……………….GO GO RAFAEL SANTOS……….IF YOU BELIEVE THAT’S THE TRUTH THEN STAND BY IT
