Direk Wenn Deramas, umaalma sa MMFF entry nina Ai-Ai delas Alas at Vic Sotto?!

BARELY FIVE MONTHS away sa akalain-n’yong-MMFF-na-naman(?) ang pagsasanib-puwersa nina Vic Sotto at Ai-Ai delas Alas via their collaborative entry tentatively titled Tanging Ina Meets Enteng, this early, is stirring up not poise, but noise.

As we all know, the “other half” of the project should be credited to Direk Wenn Deramas, himself the creator of Tanging Ina na bagama’t hindi eksaktong ibinatay sa tunay na kuwento ng kanyang ina (SLN) still represents the “mother” of his directorial genius. Nirerespeto naman ng award-winning director kung naetsa-puwera man siya sa naturang proyekto, with Tony Reyes helming the movie.

Pero delicadeza naman ang dapat pinairal ng kampo ni Bossing, that should give due recognition to Direk Wenn.  Obvious naman kasi ang “motibo” ng kampo ni Vic, it has opted to join forces with the box-office strength of Ai-Ai to topple another Bong Revilla entry!

But why at the expense of Tanging Ina’s box office history na kinailangan pang iligwak ang mismong utak sa likod ng tagumpay nito, who happens to be Wenn?

It’s a given though that Kuya Germs has served as Ate Guy’s mentor, tatay-tatayan, ally, confidante, shock-absorber, all rolled into one. Their long years of friendship transcends network wars, kaya kesehodang TV5 stands to benefit from all this publicity is way beyond the Master Showman’s concern.

After all, let’s face it, ang pagbabalik ni Ate Guy is news. And that being so, dapat bang magkaroon ng exclusivity ang isang balita that should be a free-for-all stuff? Good thing with TV5, realizing the media mileage it can get mula sa iba’t ibang TV coverage ay hindi nila ipinagkait ang arrival ng aktres.

But what if either GMA or ABS-CBN has engaged the services of Nora, sa tingin n’yo ba’y walang “suwapangang” mangyayari? Talk about KBL… Kasalan, Binyag at Libing… don’t  these events have strictly exclusive coverages?

In the said project, lumebel si Ryza kay Bela Padilla pero her performance hardly made a mark (kung paanong it was not a boost to enhance the acting skills of Aljur na banung-bano pa ring umarte!).

Kaya heto, Ryza plays second lead to Kris Bernal, na siyang bida sa show with an English title.

PERSONAL: IN THIS technological age, we do not just connect—whether directly or indirectly—to people whom we may have known years ago. At the wi-fi-equipped Capitol Bar & Restaurant in Pasay City na gabi-gabi kong tinatambayan, masuwerte kong nakilala sina SPO1 Danilo Solangon at PO2 Wilbert Muros na kapwa nakatalaga sa headquarters ng Pasay City Police Station.

Natunton namin ang aming kunek tracing to their office headed by Deputy Chief of Police for Administration Col. Samuel Turla, na nakasama namin in our police reporter days back in 1986 at the advent of the Cory administration.

It’s always nice to look back at such humble beginnings, as we learn from them to look beyond the present and hope what’s in store for us in the future.
